KR AGILUS ultra closes the gap for low payloads and offers flexible usability

KUKA is revamping its small robotics portfolio: The new product family bridges the gap between the KR AGILUS series and the KR CYBERTECH nano family. With a rated payload of up to 16 kilograms, the multi-talented KR AGILUS ultra delivers high performance, advancing automation in many industries and areas.

Kicking Off the Next Generation of Small Robotics

With the KR AGILUS ultra product family, KUKA has added a new small robot to its portfolio, based on a new generation of the popular KR AGILUS series. The KR AGILUS ultra has a significantly higher payload of up to 16 kilograms as well as faster movements and better precision. Cycle times can be shortened, the axes move faster, and reduced vibration behavior enables higher positioning accuracy. Its performance combined with a small footprint makes the KR AGILUS ultra the ideal partner in the electronics, automotive, and general industry sectors, where it is used for tasks such as handling, loading and unloading, testing, and inspection.

Versatility Backed By Full IP67 Certification

The KR AGILUS ultra is ideally suited for unloading applications when paired with an injection molding machine. With full IP67 certification, the compact robot is resistant to splash water, emulsions, and cleaning fluids. "Compared to its predecessors, not only are the arms or certain axes protected, but the entire robot," says Product Manager Markus Hollfelder-Asam. Another key application is cells with a high level of integration, particularly in advanced packaging environments. The KR AGILUS ultra has reduced interference contours and a compact six-axis design with internal cable and energy guidance.

Thanks to its full IP67 certification, the small robot is immune to splash water, emulsions, and cleaning fluids.

With AI readiness included, the new generation of small robots is open for future expansions.

Smaller Footprint and AI Ready

The KR AGILUS ultra stands out with its compact footprint, while control compatibility remains a key advantage. The robot works with the new KR C5 micro controller and the iiQKA.OS2 operating system, which also supports the KUKA smartPLUG handheld controller. "With AI readiness included, the new generation of small robots is open for future expansions," emphasizes the product manager. The KR AGILUS ultra not only opens up new areas of application but also leads the way in terms of technology. "The new small robot is particularly ideal for customers in highly automated production environments with limited space," says Hollfelder-Asam.
